"Every pet ever loved by a human heart lives forever..."

What a wonderful responsibility you assume when you bring a pet into your life and household!

 You name her, feed her, provide shelter and health care, and in return, your gift is nonjudgmental, unconditional love!  A beloved pet  becomes a best friend and confidant as she accompanies you through your daily occupations and the many stages of your life; she easily becomes a full-fledged member of your family.

One day, however, that constant  becomes a loss. Your household may seem empty and incomplete as you face the reality of your devoted pet's death. For a pet parent, the heart has a difficult time distinguishing flesh from fur, and you may experience strong feelings of sorrow, guilt, anger, and loneliness, regardless if your pet's death was expected or sudden.

Those who do not understand the human-animal bond may dismiss your emotions and your pet's death as not important. You may have already been advised "get over it" or "it's just a pet."  As a person who truly loved your pet, however, you know that your "best friend" was "Not Just A Pet," and you may feel overwhelmed by the depth of your sadness.

We will help you cope with:

  •  Your pet's recent death;
  • Anticipatory / pre-loss grieving;

  • Difficult decision-making regarding end-of-life care (hospice) or euthanasia;

  • Funeral or cremation arrangements;

  • Your pet's disappearance or abduction;

  • The loss of your pet due to divorce or legal removal;

  • The loss of your pet due to your illness or disability

Support services are available for adults, children, and families.
